The City of Knoxville, Knox County, Young Williams Animal Shelter, the Knoxville News Sentinel, the University of Tennessee, and PetSafe® are working to make the Knoxville area recognized as the nation’s Most Pet Friendly community.
We choose this mission because:
- Pets bring joy to our lives. Research shows that pets can provide excellent social support, stress relief and other health benefits—perhaps more than other people!
- Knoxville has an excellent foundation for being the pet friendliest community.
- Home of the World Leader in Veterinary Medicine. The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine offers unique programs (more)
- Most Pet Friendy Community initiatives (more)
- Feature extensive Dog Park and Pet Friendly Park acreage (more)
The Most Pet Friendly effort focuses on fostering a culture of pet friendliness taken to the next level throughout our community. We are staking our claim that we are the most pet friendly city in America. Others will challenge our claim, but we will have to defend it. To do so, it’s not just the few initiatives listed above that will earn us that right, but thousands of individual efforts by all of us.
